About two weeks ago, we started feeding the babies solids (a week before they turned 5 months). I thought they were ready but I wanted to get the doctor’s approval too. I never really know if I need to give them extra time or not, for being preemies. We started with rice cereal mixed with formula. Their faces were priceless of course! First day didn’t go that well because everyone was very hungry and I should have started feeding them cereal a little earlier than their regular feeding time. Anyway, scratch that! I didn’t really take that day in consideration. Next time I tried, they all did really well. They ate more than I expected, except Hannah, she eats like a little bird. Well, she is a little bird 🙂 So I kept offering them rice cereal for a few days in a row. Then we started veggies. Green beans first for a couple of days. Andrew refused them the first try but liked them the second day. So far we are only feeding them solids once a day, around lunch time. Then we tried carrots. That was a big hit, everyone loved carrots!! The boys couldn’t get enough, Isaac was crying because I wasn’t fast enough for him. I can’t wait to get our Quad table, it’s going to be much easier to feed them. Right now they can’t really sit; Hannah is so little so we can only feed her in the Rock&Play, she can’t really support herself.
Yesterday the babies got sweet peas. They weren’t thrilled about it. We’ll try again today. It is very exciting to try new things with them and see their reactions. After the spoon feeding, everyone gets a bottle too. Sometimes they end up not drinking much, which is fine. We use the bottle proppers, so all babies eat together. It is a little difficult, but it works great. I can’t wait for them to hold their bottles by themselves.Â
I can’t believe we reached this milestone too, feeding the babies solids. I never even had a chance to think about it, I always thought it was so far away!

Too cute!! Glad they’re doing well with the solid foods. I’ve never seen or heard of the bottle propper before, what a great idea. And they’re adorable. I guess with quads you really need them!
Oh yeah, they are very helpful. I’ve never seen them before but while I was pregnant & on bed rest, I had plenty of time to inform myself about the new life we were about to begin 🙂
They are doing so well! I see a little man with a hand on the bottle, perhaps he won’t need the prop long. This is a sweet age.
Cannot wait for them to hold their bottles! :))
The day it happened here, I believe angels sang the Hallelujah chorus. Then…the little buggers learned to crawl away from their Boppy pillows during feeds 😉
These are precious photos! I so enjoyed introducing solids to my kids at this age. Totally different experience working with four babies instead of just one, but the facial expressions are the same…priceless! With our first-born, I was so excited about introducing the solids, that I got out my video camera and asked my sister to film the experience. Two bites later, our daughter projectile vomited right in my face! Sis caught the whole thing on tape! Best wishes during this sweet, but crazy time! And keep your distance when introducing new foods!
That is too funny!! I try to be careful, still it’s hilarious when they sneeze, cough or blow bubbles right after I give them another bite 🙂 I love catching ad much as I can on camera, they grow up tpo fast!
